The Italian Quarter invites you to Italy Week at Red October

From July 8 to 17 at the most fashionable place in Moscow – the Red October – there will be a grand event of the capital’s cultural and social life – Italy Week. The event will take place as part of the Year of Italian Culture and Italian Language in Russia. The project is presenting the high-end residential complex – the Italian Quarter.

For ten days in every corner of the Red October you will be able to sense the creative spirit of Italy, the Mediterranean mood of freedom and beauty. Italian architects, painters, graphic artists and photographers will be presenting their works there.

The main event at Italy Week will be the exhibition Architecture. Merging Design and Business, which is to be organised by IN/ARCH – the National Institute of Architecture of Italy with the support of the Italian Quarter project. The exhibition, which you will be able to see in Moscow, was a special guest at the 12th Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2010 and is being shown in Russia for the first time. The event’s curator is the Italian architect Francesco Orofino. The event venue is the Red October, Bldg. 1, 2 Bersenevsky Pereulok.

The venue will also host the graphic design exhibition Best Modern Italian Graphic Design for Society and Culture organised by the Regional Public Organisation the Association of Poster Designers and the Association of Italian Graphic Designers. The curators of the exhibition are Cristina Chiappini – a member of the Italian Design Council and the Vice President of the Italian Association of Communication Design (AIAP), Alexandra Sankova. You may also attend a lecture given by Cristina Chiappini on July 6 at the STRELKA Institute.

In the Pobeda (Victory) gallery there will be a group photo project called Natura Morta, one of the participants of which is the Italian artist Paulette Tavormina – who created wonderful photographic images of still life in the style of 17th Century Dutch works of art.


In the Lumiere Brothers Photography Centre with the support of the magazine Italia. Life as Art there will be an exhibition of the famous high society photographer Michael Roberts – Shot in Sicily.

And in the Dome bar/café/cinema lounge there will be an atmosphere of wonderful Italian cinema. Young Italian directors who have won prestigious international cinema festivals will be presenting their films.

The BONTEMPI Italian restaurant will be giving away a prize certificate to attend a master class from the restaurant’s chef – Valentino Bontempi.  In the BELKA bar there will be a Forte dei Marmi Party and ART AKADEMIA will be organising Italo disco themed parties with resident DJs.

July at the Red October promises to be as hot as Italy!
